A Brief History
Momma Mosaic began as a photography project designed to show the real faces of postpartum depression. Spurred by her own three-year battle with undiagnosed postpartum depression and recovery, Maria Carola wanted to use her public relations and photography experience to raise awareness about the realities of motherhood. She began to share her stories and experiences in the hopes that others like her, who had suffered silently for so long, would find solace and comfort that they, too, could get better and were not alone.
Mariaβs first published article for She Knows went viral overnight. She has since appeared on Refinery 29, Romper, The Girlfriend, The Boston Globe, VeryWell Health and Sesame Street (!) sharing her candid perspective of motherhood.
What began as an awareness campaign for postpartum depression, has grown into a blog and online community that discusses all facets of motherhood. Maria brings her readers along with her as she navigates her own journey through motherhood.
